FAQs
What is an ITIN?
An Individual Taxpayer Identification Number issued by the IRS to people who need to file taxes but aren't eligible for a Social Security number.
What documents do I need?
A valid passport, or two other original identity documents such as a national ID and birth certificate. We verify originals on site so you keep them.
How long does it take?
The IRS typically issues an ITIN within 7–11 weeks after a complete application.
Why should I renew my ITIN?
ITINs not used on a return for three consecutive years expire. Renewing before you file avoids refund delays.
